Bush's Private Property Executive Order

I'm not sure whether to be proud of a president who has done this or be ashamed that he has refrained this long from doing something. For now, at least, I think it is best to be thankful for what I have and to thank our President for his apparent willingness to stand up for private property rights. President Bush today published an executive order

It is the policy of the United States to protect the rights of Americans to their private property, including by limiting the taking of private property by the Federal Government to situations in which the taking is for public use, with just compensation, and for the purpose of benefiting the general public and not merely for the purpose of advancing the economic interest of private parties to be given ownership or use of the property taken.

Regardless of whether this actioin will do any good, it is good to see that at least one branch of government is willing to stand up against a loose court to say that they've gone too far.

OTHER THOUGHTS

Is the right to private property given in scripture? Is it a biblical principle?
